Terrible floods began in northwest Pakistan in late July after heavy monsoon rains expanded rivers to overflowing and devastating millions of hectares of crops in the country's "breadbasket" in Punjab and the Sindh.

The deluge has affected about one-fifth of Pakistan's territory (an area the size of Italy!) .

At least six million people have been made homeless and 20 million are affected overall.
